Seagate bullish on perpendicular recording

— 1:15 AM on July 27, 2005

Xbit Labs is reporting that Seagate will use perpendicular recording technology in virtually all of its hard disk drives by the end of next year. That's an ambitious plan, particularly if Seagate also intends to bring perpendicular recording to its SCSI products. Notebook drives will be the first to the perpendicular party, led by the Momentus 5400.3, which is due out this winter. As always, I suggest you check out Hitachi Global Storage Technologies' amusing Get Perpendicular presentation for the skinny on the new recording technology.
