HP ends iPod deal with Apple

— 1:41 AM on August 1, 2005

HP has ended its iPod resale deal with Apple. The PC giant had been reselling Apple's trendy MP3 players for over a year, but the arrangement apparently doesn't fit into the company's "digital entertainment strategy" anymore. That strategy won't include a replacement for the iPod anytime soon, either; the terms of the arrangement prevent HP from introducing a competitor to the iPod for the next year. HP will keep selling iPods until its inventory runs out, although it's unclear how long the company will continue to offer its printable iPod tattoos.
