AMD, Intel cut processor prices

— 12:34 AM on August 2, 2005

TR reader Jim pointed out that AMD has slashed prices on more than just its dual-core Athlon 64 X2 line. The prices of several single-core Athlon 64 processors have been cut by between 11 and 22%, and numerous Sempron processors have also been discounted. Not to be outdone, Intel has cut the price of most of its mobile processors to make room for the Pentium M 780 that we spotted last week. The Pentium M 780 debuts at $637, setting off a wave of Pentium M and Celeron M price cuts that range between 13 and 34%. There's no word on when Intel's next round of desktop price cuts are coming, though.
