Asus's PEG Link Mode investigated

— 10:44 AM on August 17, 2005

We have a vague idea that Asus's mysterious PEG Link Mode automatically overclocks graphics cards, and we know that this "feature" is enabled by default in most newer Asus motherboards. What exactly does it do, and how do the various options in the BIOS menu affect its operation? That's what the guys at Adrian's Rojak Pot have attempted to find out, with some success.

I'm perplexed to see that the mobo they tested didn't have a "disabled" option for PEG Link Mode. I would have expected Asus to offer, straightforwardly and unambiguously, the choice of turning off this feature. Hmm.
