Roll-up display prototype shown

The concept of a flexible, roll-up display has held lots of promise for better computing on the go, but such things have always been somewhere off in the future. Now, a company called Philips Polymer Vision has moved such technology several steps closer to reality by designing a working prototype of "rollable" display. It's a five-inch display with 320x240 resolution and four-level grayscale, and the prototype device collapses to a fraction of its full size. The company doesn't plan to make this particular concept device into a commercial product, but the display tech should find its way into tomorrow's mobile gadgets.
