Abit transferring production capacity to ECS

— 3:31 PM on September 22, 2005

According to The Inq, Abit is set to transfer up to 50% of its production capacity to ECS, where it will mostly be used to build entry-level products. High-end boards will still be manufactured at Abit's Suzhou plant, but property transfer negotiations for that facility are already under way. If those negotiations are successful, manufacturing at the Shozou plant will be a joint effort between Abit and several other un-named companies.

More information, and some sobering financials, are available at DigiTimes Abit's sales and income have cratered over the last year, dropping over 80% compared to 2004.
