No AGP for Radeon X1800

— 1:00 AM on September 29, 2005

Although it had originally seen roadmaps to the contrary, The Inquirer is reporting that ATI will not make an AGP version of its R520-based Radeon X1800. It's expected that the upcoming Radeon X1300, and possibly even X1600, will be available for PCI Express and AGP, but ATI appears content with PCI-E-only for the high end. NVIDIA has also declined to release AGP versions of its high-end GeForce 7800s, leaving the Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition and GeForce 6800 Ultra as the fastest AGP graphics cards around.
