VIA, offer VoomPC car PC kit

— 11:07 AM on October 3, 2005

Ever since Mini-ITX systems hit the market, end-users have found new and different places to use them and cases to fit them into. Now VIA and its partner are getting into the act by offering the car-specific VoomPC. According to the DigiTimes, the VoomPC uses an integrated power supply, monitors the car battery to prevent drain (even when the car is turned off), and supports anti-thump technology to prevent popping or squealing as the PC powers up. The VIA Vinyl Six-TRAC audio system provides audio support. Prices range from $299-$399 depending on configuration, and the units are designed to consume no more than 30W of power.
