DisplayPort's prospects doubted

— 2:10 AM on October 13, 2005

DigiTimes is running an interesting commentary questioning whether the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) can survive DisplayPort. The article highlights a number of issues with VESA's support of DisplayPort, including dissent within the group's membership, problems with the DisplayPort standard itself, and competition from the High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI). VESA is auditioning DisplayPort as a replacement for DVI and VGA.
