iSuppli weighs in on iPod nano problems

— 11:14 AM on October 14, 2005

DigiTimes has run iSuppli's analysis of the iPod nano's screen problems. Apple claims that the screen cracking issue is limited to one tenth of 1% of all shipping nanos, but also states that the problem in question is not a design issue. iSuppli doesn't directly contradict this, but does note that no display manufacturer has been notified of any faulty display claims, and no recalls have been issued. iSuppli's analysis discusses several other potential reasons for the problem, including the large display size, the lack of clearance between the display and the nano’s body, and potential weaknesses in the nano LCD's protective coating.
