According to DigiTimes, Gigabyte's quad-SLI monstrosity will ship "in volume" by the end of this month. However, it's unclear how much volume Gigabyte is actually expecting to sell.
Although it's not available on the market just yet, the GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal is an early contender for our prestigious "Worst PCI-slot placement ever" award, as evidenced by the photo of the board we posted late last week. Since any PCI card would have to survive being baked between two video cards (and would simultaneously interfere with their cooling) it's hard to imagine anyone actually attempting to use the slot.
