Hand in the cookie jar

Wired has an article revealing that the White House got busted for violating its own privacy policies by using cookies on its web sites. The White House has since issued an edict to all Federal agencies and departments telling them not to use cookies anymore. Period.

Privacy groups are apparently happy with the move, but are also skeptical. One analyst said "First they denied that they were using cookies at all. Now they've changed their policy, but it remains to be seen whether they'll effectively enforce it . . . ." To paraphrase President Clinton, I suppose that would depend on your definition of the word enforce...
