Toshiba delays HD-DVD launch again

— 10:45 AM on December 13, 2005

Toshiba has once again delayed the launch of its HD-DVD player. Back in September, Toshiba pushed back the North American HD-DVD launch to February or March of next year, citing a desire to build inventories. Toshiba had still planned to launch its HD-DVD player in Japan this year, but the company has yet to finalize HD-DVD's AACS copyright protection scheme, and the next-gen DVD format won't launch without it. There's no word on when issues with AACS will be resolved, either.
