Sony negotiates major flash deal

According to Bloomberg, Samsung is currently negotiating with Sony to supply NAND flash for a new line of digital music players. The new players are expected to hold at least eight gigabytes of music and may signal the launch of a new offensive against Apple in the digital music player wars. Sony is currently negotiating to purchase $1.8 billion dollars of NAND from Samsung. An order that large would consume roughly 20% of Samsung's NAND production, dwarfing the $500 million order Samsung won from Apple in November.
