Intel demos 45-nano SRAM chips

— 12:52 PM on January 25, 2006

Intel has demonstrated what it believes to be the first working SRAM chips built using 45-nano fabrication technology. SRAM chips are much less complicated than microprocessors, but the milestone indicates that Intel is on track to deliver processors built using 45-nano tech in 2007. Leakage is apparently under control, as well, with Intel claiming that its new process makes it possible to build chips with five times less leakage than current chips.
