— 1:53 AM on February 2, 2006

The Register is reporting that Intel will add Enhanced SpeedStep and a new Enhanced HALT State to its 65-nano Presler and Cedar Mill desktop chips in April. According to the article, the new features will drop the Pentium 940's power consumption from 130W to 95W, although the lower power consumption may only be evident at idle. It's expected that the new core revision will be available for purchase by April 24.
