Mobo makers to show off Socket M2 next month

— 4:17 AM on February 8, 2006

According to sources at DigiTimes, motherboard manufacturers will be showing off products based on the upcoming M2 socket at next month's CeBIT show in Germany. Those manufacturers apparently won't be able to reveal specific details about the platform, though. DigiTimes' sources also confirm that AMD plans to make Socket 754 and 939 chips until the first quarter of next year, although newer processors may only be available for the M2 socket. Processors for Socket 754 and 939 should be available from retailers for some time after AMD halts production, as well.
