AMD refutes Intel performance claims

— 7:40 PM on February 27, 2006

AMD chief sales and marketing officer Henri Richard has refuted Intel's boastful claim that its next-gen Conroe and Merom-based processors will have a 20% performance advantage over AMD's competing chips. Richard claims that Intel is simply trying to divert attention away from its current products, and points out that Intel's new chips still won't have an on-die memory controller. AMD and Intel's next round of dual-core desktop processors are set to launch in early June and July, respectively.
