Samsung to take on iPod nano

— 4:28 PM on March 3, 2006

On Sunday, Samsung will unveil a new flash-based music player to compete directly with Apple's highly successful iPod nano. Samsung claims that its new player, dubbed the YP-25, will offer a bigger color display, longer battery life, and higher capacity than the Apple player. Samsung also boasts that the YP-25 will have a superior user interface designed by a team led by ex-Apple software designer Paul Mercer. The new Samsung YP-25 will launch at $199-249, and presumably compete with the 2GB and 4GB iPod nano models that are also priced at $199 and $249, respectively.
