Medical breakthroughs on the horizon?

This intriguing article at Time.com does a nice job of summing up the current state of research on Alzheimer's disease. It looks possible—though not yet probable, perhaps—that a vaccine could be developed to prevent, halt, or even reverse the progress of the disease. And researchers seem confident they'll beat Alzheimer's in time to save baby boomers, regardless. Amazing.

Meanwhile, it seems an experimental AIDS vaccine has been cleared for testing in human beings. If it does work, booster shots may be required to keep it effective.
