AMD's Henri Richard interviewed

— 9:58 AM on March 13, 2006

DigiTimes has an interesting interview with Henri Richard, AMD's Executive Vice-President and Chief Officer for Marketing and Sales. The interview covers Intel's Next-Generation Micro Architecture (NGMA), AMD's achievements, and the K8's future. Richard claims Intel's NGMA—expected to debut in Conroe, Merom, and Woodcrest chips later this year—is nothing but a "Pentium 3 resurgence, mixed with some of the capability of the Pentium 4." Richard also talks about AMD's plans for 2007, saying the company will expand on its current architecture instead of "re-invent[ing] the wheel" like Intel, which Richard says "has to try to claim that the NGMA is something new." This is a five-part interview; DigiTimes will have the next part up tomorrow.
