ATI intros FireGL graphics card with 1GB of RAM

— 1:06 AM on March 21, 2006

ATI has introduced new FireGL V7300 and V7350 workstation graphics cards. The V7300 is priced at $1,599 and features 512MB of memory, while the V7350 costs $1,999 and sports an impressive 1GB of RAM. The new FireGL cards are based on the same R520 architecture as ATI's Radeon X1800 series, although they're naturally tweaked for workstation-type tasks, including computer aided design and digital content creation.

X-bit labs has already posted a review of the FireGL V7350, which is compared with NVIDIA's Quadro FX 4500. The performance of the two cards goes back and forth, with no clear winner on either side. This is interesting, as the Quadro has half the memory of the FireGL and a 250MHz memory clock speed disadvantage.
