Abit "rises from the ashes"

— 11:10 AM on March 21, 2006

In a press release today, Abit announced that it has completed the transfer of its motherboard brand and related assets to a new joint venture company established by Abit and Universal Scientific Industrial (USI). USI is part of the ASE Group, the world's largest provider of independent semiconductor manufacturing services in assembly and testing. The new company will be known as Universal Abit, and will receive USI's backing for improved manufacturing, greater product diversification, and better service—or so they claim. The press release strongly denies rumors surrounding the disappearance of the Abit brand and after-sales service, stating that the new joint venture would build up on Abit's "outstanding product quality and customer service." Considering the Abit brand is much better known than USI, it does indeed makes sense to use it in order to leverage the new joint venture.
