Microsoft to increase Xbox 360 shipments

— 3:49 PM on March 21, 2006

Microsoft plans to boost Xbox 360 shipments by "two to three times" per week from now on. Component supplies are apparently at full production levels, and Microsoft has brought on Celestica as an additional manufacturer. The shipment increase is a welcomed response to shortages that have plagued the Xbox 360 since its introduction in late November. Confident of its increased manufacturing capabilities, Microsoft stated that it is still on track to ship the targeted 4.5-5.5 million consoles by June 30.
