More Core Duo desktop boards appear in Japan

AKIBA PC Hotline! (in Japanese, translate here) has spotted more Core Duo desktop motherboards in Japan. The Intel 945GM-powered Asus N4L-VM DH has started to appear in small quantities at ¥21,800, or $185.78, with larger shipments expected next week. MSI's 945GT-powered Speedster Plus is also showing up at a pricier ¥29,800 ($253.96), as is the AOpen i975Xa-YDG, which is being sold at a wallet-scorching ¥36,980 ($315.15). However, the AOpen board does feature Intel's high-end 975X chipset and dual PCI Express x16 slots that should work with CrossFire and perhaps even SLI. All three boards support Intel's new Core Solo and Core Duo mobile processors, as well as 300MB/s Serial ATA, FireWire, and Gigabit Ethernet. No US release dates are known, but a preview of the Asus N4L-VM DH on PC Perspective states that Asus expects availability "within the month." Let's hope final retail prices end up lower in the western hemisphere.
