Google updates Desktop, adds new products
four new products following its yearly Press Day event yesterday. The new additions include Google Co-op, which allows users
to label pages and create "subscribed links" to help make information
more accessible, and Google
Trends, which lets users see detailed search statistics for various
keywords. The company is also introducing version 4.0 of its Google Desktop, adding
multi-purpose "Google Gadgets" similar to MacOS X's Widgets and Windows
Vista's Sidebar Gadgets. Google Gadgets include a media player,
calendar, weather forecast, stock quotes, clock, and many other tools. Finally,
Google announced Google Notebook, a "personal browser tool that lets
you clip text, images, and links from the pages you're searching, save
clippings to an online notebook, and then share notebooks with others."
The company revealed little else about this product, but said that it should launch some time next week. Google Co-op, Google Trends, and Google
Desktop 4 are all available today.
