ATI working on Quad CrossFire?
The Inquirer claims
to have information regarding an alleged "Quad CrossFire"
solution from ATI that would compete against NVIDIA's Quad SLI. The
Inq says "[we] know that ATI is planning to introduce its own four-card
stunner but we think it won't have it ready before the end of summer."
NVIDIA's Quad SLI still isn't shipping, and companies like Alienware,
Voodoo PC, and Falcon Northwest all say their pre-built Quad SLI
machines won't be available for three to four weeks. Considering underwhelming early reviews of systems
with Quad SLI GeForce 7900 GX2 graphics cards, ATI may have some extra
time to push this rumored "Quad CrossFire" to market. Of course, ATI's
implementation could also face problems and delays, and rumors say
NVIDIA will release a GeForce 7950 GX2
retail Quad SLI cards some time this month.
Update: Falcon Northwest tells us it has been shipping Quad SLI
systems for "more than a month now." However, the company's site does
quote a four-week lead time on all Mach V systems, which include Quad
