Apple to include Blu-ray drives in future Macs?
Blu-ray disc drives may soon find their way into some of Apple's machines, according to a report on ThinkSecret. The rumor is somewhat odd, since shortages of blue laser diodes have forced Sony to delay the PlayStation 3's European launch as well as its own Blu-ray player. The rumor says Apple will either announce or begin to produce Blu-ray-equipped Macs in February 2007, though, so perhaps the iPod maker expects blue laser diode supply to pick up by then. Besides, considering the current cost of Blu-ray drives, Apple may only be able to include them in its $2,499+ Mac Pro and/or $1,999+ MacBook Pro systems.
