CEO of Google Spain confirms Google phone

Last week, we reported that Google had put up a job posting that corroborated rumors of a purported mobile communication device the company was said to be working on. Google Spain & Portugal CEO Isabel Aguilera has now told Spanish site Noticias.com that, "among other things," Google is indeed working on the development of a mobile phone. "We have dedicated a part of the time of our engineers to the investigation of a mobile telephone to access information," she told the site. According to the poor automatic translation, Aguilera also went on to indicate that the mobile phone could be used as a way to extend the concept of the information society to less developed nations. That said, Aguilera pointed out that the phone is only one of 18 products that Google is currently developing in its labs. Thanks to Engadget for the tip.
