German game development studio Crytek put together a video showing off its next-generation engine for the 2007 Game Developers Conference last month. CryEngine 2 is the engine for the studio's upcoming shooter, Crysis, which is scheduled to hit stores later this year. The guys at Fileshack have now made the video available for download.
The shows off CryEngine 2's various snazzy features, including dynamic night and day cycles, depth of field, long view distances, parallax occlusion mapping, some killer water effects, and an advanced physics engine. Along with eye candy, the video shows off Crytek's editor, which basically renders game scenes in real time and lets designers model terrain, position objects, and even test maps without opening the full game.
