After the Sonata and the Sonata II, Antec has announced a third iteration of its popular quiet case. The new Sonata III has a look similar to that of its predecessors, but its front bezel is sleeker and lays out a set of USB, eSATA, and audio ports in a horizontal fashion. Inside the case, little appears to have changed. Antec has conserved the four sideways-mounted hard drive trays, three 5.25" drive bays, two 3.5" external drive bays, and 120mm TriCool exhaust fan with three manual speed settings.
Nonetheless, the bundled power supply has been beefed up from the Sonata II's 450 SmartPower 2.0 model to an EarthWatts EA 500 500W unit. This new power supply has active power factor correction and is certified to operate at more than 80% efficiency at loads of 20%, 50%, or 100%. It is cooled by a single 80mm fan, and it has two +12V rail with a maximum combined power output of 408W.
