Technical difficulties—no podcast today

Due to a technical malfunction, we have decided to cancel this week’s edition of the TR Podcast (which would be episode 37). Several factors contributed to our problem, leaving us with Scott Wasson’s voice completely absent from the audio. That’s obviously a degradation of quality we cannot allow, so we will have to return next week with our scheduled programming.

Thanks for your patience, and we’ll see you next week!

Hey, I used MPlayer in Fedora 10 to listen to some episode in M4A format.
I can’t remember exactly which episode.
It’s nice to see various photos changing at each topic
    (I saw Charlie Brown.)

How did you guys do that? And which player program in Windows can support this trick?

Rumor has it he goes by the name of “Damage”. This is unconfirmed though…

“I say still air it, even without Scott’s commentary.”

Even though I love the podcast and haven’t missed an episode…
Scott is the Big Kahuna here, so the show can’t go on without him.

    🙁

I say still air it, even without Scott’s commentary. All it means is that we get to play mad libs with what Scott might be saying. Imagination rules!

lol, I’m glad they didn’t air it–Scott is the bread n’ butter of the show–but I’m pretty sure I would be hauled away to the looney bin if I started gesticulating and mimicry of Scott sporadically on my iPod.

Poor Damage its always his fault… Guess that’s why they call him Damage.

You know, there is a suggestion I had, having listened to a few episodes while on a crazy 13.5 hour, 788 mile round trip yesterday, to deliver some car parts…

Could you maybe do a live podcast (although, with issues like this, maybe not…), and even allow listeners to skype in, and/or have someone watching the TR IRC channel for comments, and then post the edited version? That’ll get more participation, and may get more listeners.

And, if you have someone watching the IRC channel, it might make it less of an idling contest. 🙂

Sounds like what TWiT does. It’s an interesting idea, but while it works in TWiT, I’m not sure if it’d be as effective on the TR podcast. In TWiT they use it to crowdsource, but those guys on the TR podcast know more than almost everyone in the audience about what they’re talking about.

Well, Fat Man and Circuit Girl uses it to do some crowdsourcing, but also for feedback on their discussions, whether they need to do more (or less) coverage of a subject, expanded explanations of a subject, etc., etc.

    Ah damnit that sucks!
