Introducing the TR job board

We may not be big enough (yet) to have an HR department and multiple positions available. However, The Tech Report does have a sizable enough audience to attract the attention of numerous employers. I’ve fielded more than a few inquiries from companies that would like to tap the talent pool that is our reader base.

And, last time I checked, there were quite a few people looking for employment in this still-shaky economy.

So, without further ado, let me present TR’s new job board. You can access it from any TR page, via either the “Jobs” link in our navigation bar or the “Tech jobs” widgets on our front page. The listings that appear should be generally tech-related and geo-targeted to your region, though if you click through to the full job board, you can easily search and sort through multiple categories

To the business owners or managers among our readers, you can post your openings to target both other TR readers and JobThread’s broader network of publishers and audiences.

i learned a valuable lesson from a good friend of mine. after 6 months of unemployment, then getting fired after two days of work and recieving an additional 6 months of unemployment, i’ve learned that having a job is completely overrated. im going to concentrate on living off the fat of the land!

Awesome! Just another reason to keep coming back to this site. I’m going to click on a few banner ads on this site because I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of this.

Clicks without purchases will lower the ROI for the advertisers campaign and can affect a sites attractiveness to advertisers in the long term.

That’s a pretty impressive list of jobs for just putting the jobs section online.

    Nice.

employer: “How did you find the job opening?”
applicant: “I saw it on the TR job board.”
employer: “Do you spend much time on the site?”
applicant: “Are you kidding!?! I’m a regular. I keep at least five tabs on TR at all times. Will that be a problem if I work here?”
    employer: “Well…”
    applicant: “Umm…ok. cya.”

Hey Cyril, just a minor nitpick. Is there any way you could enable the blue/original TR theme background to the job board. Whenever I go to it, I’m stuck with the newer beige theme. Not like I’m visiting it often/utilizing it, but for sake of consistency it would be nice.

I think this is a freaking AWESOME addition… great work and thanks for thinking of us :)… gotta keep your readers in a job so they can afford the nice expensive hardware you review (and donate some cash too!!)

Goes to show for those people who claim that they are so trained on screen positions for buttons and stuff still can’t find things even if they are at the same place. Like those who claim they can’t live without the Up button and the old menu bar systems. /puts-on-flamesuit

I was just looking for a place to say “wow, that’s new!”

It even found jobs in my area, including one in my field the first time I saw it. excellent!

Fortunately, my contract has been extended a few months, but maybe after that I can be surfing TR and saying “Honey, I’m looking for a new job, honest!” ๐Ÿ˜€

What kind of photo editing is that, you could’ve magnified the newspapers under the TR glass.

    Just a quick question……….
Is this US only or is it going to be worldwide?

      I have the same question.

I see one job there there is in Toronto, Canada, so I guess US/Canada for now?

        • tfp

The search has a number of countries listed people just need to post jobs from those countries.

      • Inkling

The Job Board supports any region. But as tfp said, employers in other countries need to use it for openings to appear. The JobThread reps said most their focus has been on North America to this point, because that’s where they started.

And since most of TR’s readers are from the US or Canada, it’s just more likely that companies who post openings to target our readers exclusively are going to be Norteamericano. ๐Ÿ™‚

TR really is a cut above the rest of those tech sites out there. I wholeheartedly approve! Too bad my education has nothing to do with computer sciences.

Neither does mine, but some employer out there may be looking for a junior mechcanical engineer like me ๐Ÿ™‚

Same. I took business (accounting major, political science minor) and ended up in IT. Go figure, I was actively trying NOT to get a job in IT.

Whoa, this is awesome! Now if only intern positions were posted…

Edit: If any of you out there in Project or Operations management are looking for an intern, I am very, very interested.

You live too far away from here for me to find or offer a job to you. I’m nearly positive that we couldn’t hire a dude from WA without relocation costs, even if it was an internship.
