Neither rain nor sleet nor snow…

The universe is aligned against us this weekend. I’m currently in Washington, D.C. on a business trip and am completely buried in the record amounts of snow we’ve been getting on the east coast. My plan was to travel back to North Carolina (where the TR Podcast studios are located) in time for our regular podcast recording session tomorrow (Friday). Instead, I’m stuck here in our nation’s capital for a few more days—and ultimately unable to record and produce a new episode of the TR Podcast for this weekend. Needless to say, Scott and the rest of the gang are devastated… just devastated.

If you haven’t heard our latest episode, "Tales from CES," feel free to give that a listen over the weekend, or maybe tune into to one of my favorite radio shows and podcasts: This American Life. Either way, we’ll be back in two weeks for our regularly scheduled podcast (Sunday the 28th, I believe).

‘Til then!

In order to make up for this grievous delay… please be sure to insert the phrase “devastated… just devastated” at least 3 times into the next podcast. (“devastat*[

Where are you in DC? I’m a bit busy due to this being my birthday weekend, but if it’s convenient we could meet up for a beer. Bars seem to be the only places open when most are closed due to the snow.

But.. but… Al Gore and the Eurotrash and the environmentalists say global warming is real. I mean didn’t he win a Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar? Also aren’t they making kids watch his goofy movie in schools?

How many feet of snow did Washington D.C. accumulate from this blizzard and the previous blizzard in total? While I doubt it reached 6 feet, it would be comforting to know that many politicians I dislike are 6 feet under.

We got 2-3 feet in the city (about 2 from the first storm Friday-Saturday, and 1 foot from the second storm Tuesday-Wednesday). Another 3-6 inches is forecast for Monday night. Some areas (particularly north of DC) have up to 4 feet from the two storms.

And most of congress got out of town…although I wouldn’t mind seeing them buried either ๐Ÿ™‚

DC is still a mess today (Friday).

are you telling me that you can’t just skype in or something and get the thing recorded? or how about a cell phone? radio shows and podcast usually can take calls from anywhere and get them on the air/recorded. seems like a flimsy excuse to me…

I’ve been listening to This American Life for about 10 years now. Love it. I wish Ira Glass would do speaking engagements near Philadelphia more often.

I live in Ottawa, Canada, where we’re supposed to get snow. And yet when I look outside I see grass, the temps are above freezing (~+3C) and a friend of mine took his motorcycle out for a short spin (although with the amount of salt on the roads I have to ask why he would want to do that).

Oh, and Vancouver is having to ship snow in to cover the ski hills since it all melted.

Yeah, life on the East Coast is pretty green as well… Mother Nature needs to get her stuff together; before you know it we’ll be asking Americans whether they live in igloos.

We got a little bit of snow recently in Toronto, but that’s about it. Weird winter. Although my cousin has a snow removal business and he’s not complaining.
