Re: Newegg more expensive?

I would have to say I still find them cheaper for most everything if you can wait until things go on sale, which seems to be pretty often. I picked up my cpu and mobo at microcenter, but got everything else at newegg when I built my new computer. 512 GB M4 for $345 and a HIS ICEQ 7870 for $300 plus ...

Re: Ivy Bridge PC Build ~£1000 Budget

I would step back to 1600mhz ram and put the extra 50 towards your graphics. I don't think an ivy bridge really sees much improvement from higher ram speeds under most usage senarios.

Re: First PC Build in 5 Years! Check me out :)

I'd get a cheaper motherboard and put the difference towards a 7850. The 2GB of memory and better performance would probably suit you better at 1920x1200.

Yeah except he had already won a super bowl and got the mvp trophy. Joe hasn't come close to what Eli had done at that point in his career.

I put together something similar recently with a Danby DAR440 and a 2 tap tower. 2 cornies currently filled, still trying to find the right pressure with the tank in the fridge. Have fun with it.

For a psu recommendation, newegg has the seasonic x650 on sale for $99 shipped free. Gold efficiency and from the reviews i read should be really quiet. I picked one up today.

Re: Sitting tight on AM3

I'm in the same boat. I wanted to move to a new mATX Bulldozer build, but no one even makes a mATX 990 motherboard. Hopefully that means the newer chipset is on the way sooner than later. May just move my CPU to a cheap mATX AM3 motherboard and wait for the newest chipset and FX stepping whenever it...

Re: New Home Server Build, no video

Update: So i got my RMAed motherboard back and everything fired up. Tried to install WHS 2011 and it stated that I did not have 2048 MB of RAM required. Went into BIOS and it says I have that amount. Ran MEMTEST and it says I have something like 1792 MB of RAM, but it didn't throw back any errors in...

For $55 dollars after MIR shipped to your home, I don't really see a better deal if you overclock or don't want a heavy air cooler. Plus it just got upped to a 5 year warranty.

All the reviews I've seen show the h60 to perform a couple degrees better than the h50. The pump/waterblock has a much lower profile. Its cheaper than the h50 on the egg and has a $15 MIR currently. A person called the financial company my parents work for pretending to be a copier service company asking for ip or mac addresses of the copiers. They hoped an assistant will give it to them. I'm sure that goes on elsewhere, although I would imagine it would require access to the network as well.

Re: My first build since 2004 (Budget Web PC)

I might consider spending a little more for a more efficient CPU. Something like this http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Effici ... B003ULP0Z6 maybe. Run cooler and might pay for itself in energy savings over the life of the build.

Re: Tiny home theater PC help?

The Thermaltake Element Q is a nice looking mini-ITX case and it includes a 220W PSU. For something a little bigger Lian Li just released the Q11 that should be pretty quiet and hold more hard drives, but no PSU included and I believe they're pretty pricey.

A $20 price increase for $180 GPUs is probably of more interest to TR readers than a $20 increase of a $500 GPU. How many, even among this group, are really spending that much on a GPU?
