Re: Nikon D40 and similar

Granted this is anecdotal evidence, but I have a couple of friends who own D40s and I am amazed with the quality of images that those cameras produce. Even at ISO 800, images have an acceptable amount of noise.

Re: Nikon D40 and similar

The D3000 is really slow. I think it has the same processing speed as the D40, but more "features" to slow it down. I think this might be a case of less is more. The D3000 also has worse high ISO performance than the D40 for some reason. The D3000 probably has diminished high ISO performa...

MP3 Vocal Removal Application

I've been searching google and it seems like there are some options, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend an application which can remove the vocal tracks from an MP3?

Thanks!

I think you're probably looking for more general information, but if you are still in the Minneapolis area, you might want to check out Hopkins Honda. I had a great experience with Hopkins Honda where I bought a used Civic. I have heard that the Luther family of dealerships are generally great with ...

Yes, easily. You can also save a few pennies and get the "L" or "LR" versions. I need the two physical 16x slots to run dual video cards for my three monitors. I currently have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R in my system that has what seems to be a bad NIC, a couple of bad USB ports, a...

Can I swap GA-EP45-DS3R for GA-EP45-UD3P?

I currently have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R in my system that has what seems to be a bad NIC, a couple of bad USB ports, and bad sound jacks (maybe the I/O on the back is just all going bad). I ordered it from newegg within the past year, so I can exchange it for a new one, but I need the new one befor...

General availability of Gainestown and motherboards is set for the end of the month. (Hmmm, two sockets, 9 DIMM slots per socket, 4GB per DIMM...) Of course it'll be interesting to see how many non-server apps -- Mac or PC -- can make productive use of even 8 threads, let alone 16. Looks like your ...

Re: Which will draw less power?

Another thing I just noticed about the 550 are the voltages as reported by SpeedFan: +3.3 = 3.31 +5 = 4.92 +12 = 12.22 -12 = -16.97 -5 = -6.16+5 = 6.85 Are those voltages too far out of spec? Also, my motherboard has an 8pin connector on the motherboard which the 550 has but the 380 does not. Will t...

Three monitors on 8600GT?

Is it possible to run three 1600x1200 displays from a single 8600GT? A friend uses a DVI splitter from a Matrox card to push three 1680x1050 displays, and I would like to do the same if I don't have to upgrade my video card.

Edit: If not, would the HD4670s do the trick?

Re: Quiet Cooling

Welcome to the forums! I currently use a Freezer 7 Pro. It's a fantastic cooler that is dead quiet at low rpms - even when the fan ramps up, it produces a quiet low pitched woosh sound instead of a high pitched wine. As I type, it is cooling my 3.0ghz e2160 at a silent 1520 rpm. For the price, you'l...

Re: How do Graphics Cards Regulate Fan Speed?

The Zalman product uses a brushless DC fan with hall-effect speed sensing but no means of speed control other than the DC input. The fan mate controller is simply a linear voltage regulator with a pot to adjust the output voltage. As such, you probably won't be able to connect/control the Zalman fa...

How do Graphics Cards Regulate Fan Speed?

Right now I have an 8600gt 256mb with a zalman vf900 on it. Since there is not a fan header on the card itself (it was originally passively cooled), I'm using the fan mate that came with it to regulate fan speed. I've been looking at some of the latest video card offerings (some 4670s and 4850s) and...
