Windows 7 and 10 - sharing folders

I am having some trouble with rebuilding my HTPC's file server configuration. It is pretty straightforward in that I let Plex do everything. Plex is mostly great at everything, it just does a terrible job at allowing files to be uploaded to the remote folders. I typically just use Windows sharing an...

Re: NFL 2018

Welp. That's the end of our season. What really killed us was missing tackles and short-range plays early. Sure, our offense struggled, but we never set our run game after giving up 14 quickly, and with T.Y. battling injury for weeks, we don't really have the depth for explosive deep routes. Very i...

Re: RTX 2070 vs 2080

I would forego both of them and get the 1080ti. The advantages for the hardware just do not justify the cost. All the new tech is truly awesome and will end up revolutionizing gaming. But not for a while. Any major DirectX release or new tech really needs time to mature. The performance in the new t...

Re: My top first person shooters

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - it really is excellent.
Overwatch - loving the subtly in the game.
Far Cry 4 - so far, like it a whole lot more than 5. First is still the best, though.
Day of Defeat:Source - still like this old game. Needs to be moved to the CS:GO engine. And finish Episode 3, GABE.

Because you said you wouldn't pick them if they lost to Seattle, who now look awfully good for a Giants/Ravens style wild card run.

For once, the last game of the season will be pretty meaningful for quite a few teams. Still love how the AFC West is still up for grabs with a first round bye on the line.

I lurked for a couple of months before I joined the forums. I think I was here at the beginning. I didn't come from Ars, but heard about TR at H and Rage3D. I had fun with the F@H contest and the whole doodyhead thing. The original DYMT thread was fun. I don't think I posted in it, but I read just a...

Re: NFL 2018

Seattle's homefield advantage is nearly as big as New Orleans. No way I'd be picking KC there, especially after the Seahawks were just humiliated. My picks would be Tennessee, Cleveland, Indy If KC had any sort of a defense, I would agree with this pick. But the Seahawks tend to do well against tea...

I am not a fan of color rush jerseys at all. However, my 5 year old son loves them as does my wife. So, mission accomished, NFL. On a more civil note, the Seahawks looked like a tough team for the playoffs. And Minnesota's vaunted defense looked great in the red zone, but just about terrible everywh...

Re: NFL 2018

Those Seahawks jerseys are so obnoxious they shouldn’t be allowable. I can’t even focus on the game. The Seahawks have the best Color Rush jerseys. Sure, they are a bit of an eyesore with 11 on the field, but they offer something DIFFERENT, and that color is basically perfect for the Seattle fan ba...

Resetting SMART for HDD?

A year or so ago, I was tinkering with my HTPC and ended up putting a bad SATA cable in. It ended up causing hard lockups (hard reboot required) a ton of SMART errors until I diagnosed the issue. However, the WD HDD keeps taking those SMART errors as gospel.Once I replaced the cable, I haven't gotte...

Just remember, that things which impact China negatively will positively effect Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, and Korea. Short term may see some isues, but don't think for a moment that those nations won't do their darnedest to fill that void.

Depending on the software used, you may be better off with a Radeon. OpenCL still tends to be better there.

Totally agree. There is no solid way to quantify how much to spend on a build for photography or videography. TR could stand in the gap there.

Idea for further GPU testing

There is a lot of talk on photography/video boards about how much of a difference CUDA/OpenCL make while editing photographs as well as effects in various video editing programs. However, there is not real uniform testing. TR could become the place to go for authortative information on the subject. ...

It was a fresh install. I got it down to no apps at all, and it still had pop up apps. Sent it back.

I highly doubt that it was an app she uses, as she uses very, very few apps. Generally, facebook, kindle, and Google Maps. That's about it.
