Re: Updating Linux Minecraft server

That doesn't help. So you followed nebulous instructions that you won't link us to...how are we supposed to help figure out where it went wrong not knowing what you did? Doesn't look like you actually read what is going on. What went wrong: an old version of Minecraft is installed. Solution sought:...

Updating Linux Minecraft server

I set up a Linux Minecraft server, only to discover I set it up as a 1.41 server. I need to update it so my son's friends can play together. I tried to do it with a couple of step by step instructions for CLI, but all they did was start another instance of 1.41. Any tips on doing this nice and easy?

The Eagles had 24 players miss games this season. :o Freddie Kitchens is one and done: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/browns-fire-freddie-kitchens-after-one-disastrous-season-set-to-hire-seventh-coach-since-2009/ We thank Freddie for his hard work and commitment to this organization but did not...

Re: NFL 2019

Aaaand Seattle's season is over. No RB's on the most notorious running team in the NFL? LT out on a suspect O-line? Too many injuries for this year. First round Wildcard exit. There is even talk of Marshawn Lynch being called back.

Re: NFL 2019

No, those stats are for 2010, followed by 2009's. The video is terrible. It is measuring offense by yards and defense by yards allowed. Absolute rubbish stastically speaking. Read Football Outsiders if you want good statistics on football. Fivethirtyeight is very, very good and Nate is terrific at s...

Re: NFL 2019

Football Outsiders, whose stats are pretty solid, had the Chargers lower than #1. NE had the #1 offense and #19 defense. Pitt was #1 in defense, and #5 in Offense. The Bolts were #4 in Offense, #7 in D. Very, very good, but not dominant. 2009, the Chargers will still very good at 13-3. But the offen...

Re: NFL 2019

Yep, but with the Seahawks having a win over the Niners, and if the records remain even (which very well could happen), the best SanFran can hope for would be a split. Then the scenarios get interesting.

Re: NFL 2019

Tonight, I am a Colts fan. But, there will be a unique situation if the Saints win. There will be 4 teams at 11-3. No matter what happens, there will be no change in seeding. Seahawks are the first seed, despite losing to the Saints. This gets weird. For the divisions, head to head still matters so ...

Re: Upgrading mobo and cpu, reinstall linux 18.04?

This really god to know. Gotta love a good linux project. I will probably command line purge all nvidia stuff, shut it down, then move it to where I can swap the guts out.

Now, what to do with a 2120t?

Upgrading mobo and cpu, reinstall linux 18.04?

I am contemplating upgrading my home plex server from an i3-2120t with an 950gtx gpu to an i5-9400 (not the F) for transcoding and dvr, and eventually a minecraft server. I find that the gpu decoding is hit or miss, and I have lost my low power savings of the 2120t by having a 950gtx on all the time...

Have running back by committees ever worked out well? Sure. Lots of times. Re: For movies on disc (yeah), do you ever register your "digital copy?"

It is absolutely worth it to set up your Movies Anywhere account and redeem digital copies. Especially if you have Amazon and iTunes. Once linked, you only have to redeem once and the movies will appear in both libraries. I still like physical media, but there is a space/convenience factor of havin...

Re: For movies on disc (yeah), do you ever register your "digital copy?"

I never mess with the digital copies. If they were through Amazon, I would do it. I do, however, make my own copies for my Plex server. My rationale is that I can handle having two places where I have digital copies. One local, one remote. If I were to go down the digital copy redemption thing, I wo...

A couple of things: I am most definitely on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. And yes, I chose Ubuntu so I could use the DVR (and OTA) functions of the TV card. Linux is frustrating. Okay, current issues: 1. Installed nvidia drivers. Cannot get any resolution over 1024x768. Also, control panel thingy (Nvidia X?) is blank. Tried an older driver, no change. 2. Folders aren't being shared. Installed Samba. Set it up, but it isn't visible on my network. Could b...

Re: New to Linux - HTPC/Plex server

I was reminded about the FAT restriction for file size when I was copying some TV shows over. The DVR function of Plex creates huge files. 6 GB for an hour show. So, I moved everything back, reformatted the drive into ext4 and am in the process of copying over the files now. 2 hours to go. Samba. Is...

Re: New to Linux - HTPC/Plex server

I have started the migration. My current plan is this: Drive C: is reformatted with Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS. This is my SSD drive. So far, so good. Drive D: has had all the data copied from it to a USB HD that was formatted with exFAT. D: has now been reformatted in FAT as I want my Windows machine to ha...
