Re: Firefox 3.6.6 kills ping time

From Firefox 4.0 Minefield http://www.speedtest.net/result/868243002.png From Chrome http://www.speedtest.net/result/868245338.png The difference is significant and noticeable. This happens only on my laptop through the wifi. The hardwired desktops are not impacted.

Firefox 3.6.6 kills ping time

The latest build of firefox seems to have increased my ping time by an order of magnitude (15ms to 150ms). Chrome, using the same speedtest.net site to the same server, results in the usual 15-19ms ping time. Have any others seen this issue? I need to use some add-ons that are unavailable in Chrome.

Partition magic does merge partitions easily. Several other partition manager applications do as well.

I listen to trance, funk, and German techno while typing papers. I can type about 10% faster with fewer errors.

Between journal submissions, conference proposals, and grant applications, I have to crank out 3-5 papers a month.

Re: E-mailing is corrupting my excel files

Tried Malwarebytes and found nothing. My ISP went through an upgrade cycle in the last few days and screwed up my static ip address allocation. They fixed this issue yesterday. Since I had been having trouble with my dsl modem, I replaced it at the same time. I will try sending .xls files again tomo...

It very well may be. I use F-secure as an anti-bad stuff application, but it might have missed something.

I will explore this further.

Thanks

Re: E-mailing is corrupting my excel files

Thanks. I can't save as .xlsx, but can zip it up first. I'll try that. I understand about workarounds, but I have to send out several files a day and really don't want to add a step in the sending and in the receiving.

I know, crazy stuff is happening here.............

E-mailing is corrupting my excel files

I know it sounds crazy, but when I attache an excel file to an e-mail, the perfectly good spreadsheet, made with the current stable version of Open Office and saved as a MS Excel .xls format, that leaves my win XP Pro laptop gets corrupted in the process and is rendered un-recoverable. I have: sent ...

Without hijacking the homework thread too much, it's fun watching you all help with the problems. Part of my research is in how people experience online math classes. In particular, I am studying how people communicate complex concepts over a sparse media like text. By the way, if you can't sleep to...

What is happening (if I understand from your description and photos) is that as the snow melts, the water backs up under the ice and probably runs under a loose shingle. By freeing the gutter of ice and snow, along with all the ice in the valley (the vee you mention), you will give the water a path ...

We replaced a Ricoh CL3000 color laser with a Xerox Phaser 6180DN color laser (network accessible with duplexer) several months ago and have been very happy. The Xerox is fast to output the first page (a consideration with laser printers) and produces reasonable color prints. We print about 15,000 p...
