Re: It's been so long!

My surgery brain surgery went well with a few new bumps in the road...I have to relearn how to spell so thank God for spellcheck! I know how picky some of you are about spelling errors. If I made some grammar mistakes, I apologize since I have to relearn my grammar and reading skills too. So d...

Re: How to relocate program files when using a SSD and Windows 10

I think you reversed the order you need to type the file location. Try deleting that link and running mklink j/ 'C:\Program Files' 'D:\Program Files' you actually can't do it that way because you get an error that the folder already exists. Firstly, before you run the command you need to make sure ...

Re: How to relocate program files when using a SSD and Windows 10

Just wanted to remind of one less complicated alternative if it's Intel.  Back when SSDs were ridiculously expensive, it was popular to use tiny SSDs for HDD cacheing, and Intel Smart Response Technology using the RST RAID driver can effectively turn the two drives into hybrid array which effective...

Something is still confusing me. I entered the following at the command prompt:           mklink j/ "D:\Program Files" "c:\Program Files" It set up the link...so now when I look at my D drive, it looks like the Program Files folder is a shortcut to c:/Program Files. But as a sho...

Re: How to relocate program files when using a SSD and Windows 10

Is getting a big enough primary drive a budgetary concern? That's the only legitimate reason i can think of move it off the primary drive. yes it is...I just bought a new computer which is an unexpected expense plus I need to save every penny to pay for the out of pocket expenses for my brain surge...

Re: How to relocate program files when using a SSD and Windows 10

Thanks for the help! I am working with a brand new computer with nothing installed but the OS so it wasn't about moving already installed programs.  I did move the Users using an answer file  and have moved those before without issues. Before 64 bit systems, I always moved the program files without ...

It has been a long time since I have been here so I hope this Geeky Girl still fits in here! :P I have a brand new computer running Windows 10. I have a small SSD for the OS and a regular hard drive for data. Since the SSD is so small, I want to change the default location for the Program Files, Pro...

Grabber Software

Hello Everyone! It's me Geekygirl...been gone for long time but here I am again! I used to have this sweet software that would grab any type of file from a website, like pictures, videos, zip files. It has been so long since I used it, that I can't remember the name. Anyone know of any software that...

Re: Windows 7 & Raid Set-up

Reading up a little more on RAIDs, logically the RAID 0 still might make the best sense for me. Since I don't store data on the OS hard drives and I do video production and editing and a lot of image editing..which are the recommended uses for RAID 0, doesn't it make sense to actually keep with that...

I never wanted RAID 0 to begin with..but that is how the system came. I don't store any data on the drive with the operating system. All data is stored on external hard drives escept for the software installed of course. The only data I have on the local hard drive is material being used to make vid...

Re: The Great Printer Debate!

Although I had my eyes set on one of the OKI laser printers (C330dn or C530dn) due to the fact that I couldn't find any supplies readily available and the toner being 100+ for each (needing a total of 4), I opted against them at this time. I also realized how many labels and other papers I have that...

Re: The Great Printer Debate!

I do understand what half-auto duplexing is but I am not a fan of it...It never fails that I go to print a big manual, get half way through it and the printer picks up two sheets of paper totally screwing up the print job. Yeah, I've had that happen, too. The 5550dn will do full-auto duplexing if y...

Re: The Great Printer Debate!

For that usage profile, a color laser that either full-auto duplexes or half-auto (you set duplex option, it prints opposite pages and then request a flip back into the tray to finish the job) is a must. Mostly depends on your budget. You can get a refurb'd HP 5550dn for around $500, which is a bus...

Re: The Great Printer Debate!

Well I really like the OKI printers but noticing not many places to buy them or the toner cartridges from other than directly from OKI. I am hoping this is due to being a new release but would hate to invest in it and then struggle to get the toner.

It makes sense. I guess I am just trying to figure out why they created such a small recovery partition that it is almost filled to its compacity.
