Re: Vega 64 or GTX 1080 (not TI)?

I have a Viotek 34" UWQHD (3440 x 1440) 1800R curved monitor with 100Hz and Adaptive Sync/FreeSync running on GTX 1080 mobile...and a message will pop on the screen that it's running G-Sync; dunno why. Overall the gaming experience is good.

Re: Battletech game coming out

It feels as if some modifications to heat generation and accuracy happened by default. My MLaser-heavy builds went from 7/10 heat efficiency to 6/10 all on their own. They definitely nerfed ML builds a bit - something like 20% more heat generation for MLs. They detail all the weapon changes in the ...

Just started the main campaign and got my first failed mission--I made the mistake of taking on a two-and-a-half Atlas skull mission with four 55t mediums...and was up against 2 Cicadas, an Enforcer, a Griffin, a Spyder, a Blackjack and...it might have been another Griffin; head is still fuzzy from ...

Wow. You're still using the Leopard? That's pretty insane. Yes. Crazy like a fo; er, yeah, it's just plain whacko nuts. Hi, welcome to Tech Report! I don't think we can offer much advice without a few more details--the PC system model doesn't tell us its exact component configuration, which we need to know. First, can you answer these questions: What types of games does she play? What is your exact budget? What is th...

Re: Ticking and Popping Sound

I will pull the sound card out this weekend. I fiddled around with it last night and the sound was popping and clicking all over the place while trying to watch movie trailers. Reboots seem to help some, but when the computer wakes from sleep, it seems to become especially bad. I'm not sure why. I ...

Re: Need Advice Adobe Laptop

I've been watching prices, and for $1,000 you might be able to get an i-7 CPU and GTX 1060 3GB and maybe 6GB. Prices were about $1250 for that type of hardware and have been drifting down and I've seen them hit below $1k. As a buyer of both used and new machines, used has worked out pretty well re b...

Two missions into Battletech last night with none of my lance destroyed and a single injury to one mechwarrior--for ME, that's great. I may even try co-op...So far it seems very polished and nicely designed--running it at 3440X1440 on 34" monitor and no issues yet. EDIT: Added an 'l' in Battlet...

FWIW, I'm drinking Soylent (@ $3.30 per 400 calories) for several meals a day, with an occasional protein shake and some regular meals. My ultimate goal for myself is getting to a cost $10-$12 per day--I don't know if I can cut more than that.

Read some of the articles. There are a few specifications you need to research and be careful about, but televisions are getting better and cheaper faster than monitors, IMHO. You can get 40" 4K TV for so much less than a monitor and it doesn't have to be a no-name brand... https://www.amazon.c...

That's an easy one. Don't get a 40" 4K monitor ...get a 40" 4K television and use it as a monitor and save a cubic assload of cash. https://medium.com/@keredson/using-the-samsung-mu6300-40-4k-tv-as-a-computer-monitor-8582390bb824 https://www.techspot.com/article/1439-using-4k-tv-as-desktop...

Hmmm....how about getting the 1070 Ti 'cause it's not much below a 1080 in performance, use the savings from not getting a 1080 to get a really robust PSU, then overclock the 1070 Ti to 1080 performance territory and Bob's your uncle! (I have NO idea what that phrase means, but love it).

You checked the boot settings options and the list of start-up programs? You can definitely speed it up with a non-gui boot, etc., and I usually have to disable some start-up programs such as iTunes and Google stuff.
