hmm, when I was having problems with grub a while back, a friend told me it was because I had an integrated video card. Now that I think about it, this friend was by no means an authority on the subject, and now I'm going to do some research on this. As soon as my final CS project is done.

distcc can be quirky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes ebuilds disable it. Something you should also try if slow builds are annoying you is ccache. http://ccache.samba.org/ Portage will automagically use it if you add it to your features flag (after you emerge ccache, of course)

Give me a little while to figure out my budget (I've got to talk to my parents about it).

Btw, I've never stayed in a hostel (they're uncommon here, I think). Could I get a room at one for more than one day at a time and leave my stuff there?

Europe meetup

I'm going to be studying in Lund, Sweden from June 27th-August 6th. I'm free on the weekends, and might go early and stay late. Let me know if you want to meet up. Bonus points if you'll show me around Europe. I've got weekends free. I speak a fair bit of Spanish, a bit of German, and by August, a b...

I learned boatloads by installing Gentoo. The documentation is excellent. At first it was extremely painful, but by the second time I installed it, I had it mostly figured out. Another great way to learn is go to LUGs. You can see what people do with their systems, and how. You can also find many kn...

Linux is capable of using FAT and NTFS (although the NTFS implementation isn't very reliable for writing).

The filesystem hierarchy doesn't use drive letters, which isn't dependant on the filesystem.

Back to the sig pics vs. avatars issue. Small(say 50x50), static avatars are a million times less intrusive than sig pics - they stay off to the side, out of the way, and most importantly they don't add to the size of the page . Avatars are better tham sig pics because they reside in what would oth...

So 99% of the time, you can safely ignore the person, but if you think that they might have finally said something interesting...
