Re: Suggestion to PSU Manufacturers

If your general airflow in the case is reliant on the PSU-fan, the power output is probably the best measure for setting the fan speed. The other suggestion I have is manufacturers should allow users to replace the fan built into the PSU without voiding their warranty. If the replacement fan dies, t...

Thanks for the tip, that is awesome.

Right now I am listening to Red Fang - Murder the Mountains. Great stoner rock. Check out some of their videos on YouTube: Wires, Hank Is Dead. Fun stuff.

Re: Buidling a new rig for myself and had an airflow questio

If you use the Corsair's fans for exhaust, the airflow through the radiator will be hot air from inside the case. I would definitely recommend using the Corsair's fans for intake. You will probably have to reconsider how the remaining fans should be arranged though. The power supply will exhaust air...

I have cats, and I think it is dead funny.

When I go, you can hook me up with a jetpack. Now that would be an awesome funeral.

Re: Bulding a silent PC and a few other questions

If you do the above, the HDDs will no doubt be the loudest components. Using only SSDs can be prohibitively expensive. If you can do without the capacity, you should consider buying 2.5" HDDs. Lower noise and lower power consumption (= less heat). I have been tampering with silencing my PC for ...

Take a look at www.flatpanelshd.com. They seem reliable, and have recommendations for different uses. The Ultrasharp is still on the recommended list for graphics/photography.

This works for integers.

There is lots of interesting bits (pun intended) on that page.

Wine: Chateau Latour 1998

Beer: St. Bernardus Abt 12
Not exactly champagne but... Bründlmayer brut (sekt) is probably the best sparkling wine I have tasted.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I actually prefer ME1 over ME2. I really like that you don't have to collect ammo all the time. The firing rate is reduced by heat and recoil, which is a great way to add some difficulty to the combat IMO. I don't mind the MAKO. Although it requires some grinding to find all the stuff on the planets...

Portal, HL2 and World of Goo.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and The Witcher are great games, but they require time and commitment.

I would go for a Gigabyte MB, eg. P35-DS3. Top quality, with solid capacitators. It looks like you value silence, and the Gigabyte MBs are renowned for their BIOS tweaking, including wide voltage ranges. You could probably undervolt (or overclock?) the CPU quite a bit to get less noise or better per...

8600 GT with 256 or 512 MB

I am considering the 8600 GT. I know that the 8800 series is much more powerfull, but I inisist on a passive cooled and relatively low power GPU. And I am sticking to NVidia, as I am using Linux aswell as Windows. Gainward is selling a passive cooled card with either 256 or 512 MB ram. When comparin...
