Re: Firefall

Trailer looks good, but the gameplay video shows the game as too easy and too boring.

Re: Continuous beep - won't POST

A good idea is if you tell as what components you have. If you had them OC'ed, at what temps they ran.
GPU cards whistle when their power cord ain't attached.
Try with cpu only. Try both sticks 1 at a time in all slots( 8? combinations). Then add gpu.

Re: Hosed my mobo during BIOS update

During normal BIOS update recovery bootblock part of it is not flashed, even if you can't see anything or the mobo does not beep you propably can still reflash it properly. Worser if you used BIOS from other model.

Re: Momentus XT: Hybrid SSD/HDD

How i envision such a drive is: 5400rpm for higher density linear speed,G-schock resistance, lower power, heat, noise, vibration. At least 16GB of MLC flash and some OS driver and App so that the algorithm doesn't have to keep the LBA 'most used' table in the drives paltry memory, leaving more space...

Re: New transmission type

Hopefully one day this will allow us FTL Space Travel, err, longer running energizer bunny cars.
If his demo car achieves efficiency comparable to regular cars then he's a winner.

Re: One reason WoW is addicting

That's why you keep going to the same exact instance over and over until everyone in the raid has the gear they want. Then you wait for the next content patch. My guild didn't do it for the loot, but for the challenge of killing the boss first time, or the thrill of victory after first-kill was don...

Re: One reason WoW is addicting

I consider myself a dopamine junkie but that came much, much before WoW. I guess it started with Diablo 2 and continued with any other game that offered randomized loot. And this is a key point, as playing a game that offered a static loot was nowhere near as exciting, compelling, addictive. I think...

Re: Intel Matrix RAID1 failed?

Yup, that boot phase setup could use some makeup. 1. You have to change it to IDE or AHCI, before you use them. 2. For raid1 it may be due to dying cables, power failures during writes. Check if any drive has some realocated sectors, if it has you know which one is falling behind. 3. It shouldn't ma...

Re: Intel Matrix RAID1 failed?

I had 6* WD 640GB blue and now i have 6*640GB blacks working mixed raid0 and raid5, all of them working great, so i would say they are solid. If the disks spin up and dont 'cluck' 'cluck', then he should unplug and plug the cables, and/or during boot up enter the Intel Raid Menu and reset their stat...
