Re: Got me a project car :D

My Falcon is now 5sp manual but I have some issues with it, vacuum leak under the dash, and the bottom end of my engine is toast, so I got another from a wrecker.

I need to change clutch cable and shifter on the box as well.

Re: SSD taking a while to boot up

I have a Samsung 840 EVO booting Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and there are times when it would just take so long to get past the Welcome screen. I notice that running Samsung Magician and doing an OS Optimization fixes things (even if I go to Power Options and re-select the Balanced power profile .....

SSD taking a while to boot up

Hey guys, I've got an Intel 120GB SSD in both of my PCs as the main boot drive with Windows 7/8.1 installed on the PCs. The one with Windows 7 has been taking a good 20-30 seconds to get past the Windows logo on bootup for some reason recently, is there any way I can look into this. It also takes a ...

Re: The most deadly hacking target yet: Your car

Anything with CANBUS electronics is, which is just about every new car these days.

Except you can't access any of that stuff wirelessly, unless you happen to leave your ELM27 OBDII to bluetooth adaptor in your OBDII port while you're driving it.

Which would be nobody.

Re: Pet peeve - it's pronounced "herb" not "erb"

We in the US are (typically) soft on the "h", so "erb" is a correct pronunciation. In fact, I heard someone from the UK prnounce that letter as "hache" or "hayche" the other day and it sounded very strange to me since the "h" is silent in US classro...

Re: Got me a project car :D

Yeah, I can if I want to but I'm thinking I'll just leave it off the road for now, the dash has to come out to replace the heater core and while I'm there I might as well as convert to manual as you have to change the pedal box without the dash in there :)

Re: Got me a project car :D

Falcon is off the road at the moment, the heater core is busted and its slowly leaking coolant, which is a pain in the ass job because the dash has to come out.

So I'm thinking while the dash is out, maybe manual conversion, as the dash has to be out for that too.

Re: Got me a project car :D

mobile workshop sounds freakin' awesome. Don't know about Oz, but here in the US if you can spin wrenches on diesels, there's good money to be made by offering mobile service. Long-haul truckers in particular experience side-of-road failures and need to get their machine back up and running ASAP, a...

When I was working at a Honda dealership when we rotated wheels and did them back up again, I'd set my impact gun to low torque, do them up to a low torque, drop the car and do the wheel nuts up to 80ft/lb with my torque wrench. One of the other monkeys would be there with his 1/2" air impact g...

People here in Victoria are quite angry with Ford Detroit at the moment. Its not just the 1200 people out of work from Ford, its all their little suppliers.

Ford Australia is the canary in the underground mine, Toyota and Holden will eventually follow.

Before all the modifications they put out around 100kw at the wheels when they get to this age, so we're going alright. I asked for torque curves as well but they couldn't get it to stay in 3rd gear (1:1), it kept kicking back down to 2nd gear when they were running it up on the dyno, so they could ...
