Re: Ryzen BIOS update --> much better

Yeah, if your BIOS was from pre-1.0.0.5 or so AGESA, then memory compatibility wasn't great. Glad you were able to get something out of the update. Definitely ANY Ryzen mobo needs 1.0.0.6+ AGESA bios; that's where I really noticed memory timings and stability improvements. Unfortunately, AMD did ru...

Re: VEGA 64 Temps, Boost Clock, and Wattage

Ok so from my previous which to buy thread(which got kinda way off topic so starting this new one) I bought an Asus Rog Strix Vega 64 OC. So the advertised boost clock on the card is 1590Mhz. Which if I don't screw with Wattman the card never gets close to. In games if I use the cards built in sett...

Re: EOL: Windows 7 + CPU w/o SSE2

Basically, mainstream CPUs have supported SSE2 for over a decade. While I feel some sympathy for people with old equipment, that stuff is old enough to predate Win7. By nearly a half decade, even. It's true. I was proud as anything to build a zippy Athlon XP 2400+... in 2004. It was a swell piece o...

Re: RAM Appears in BIOS, but Not Win7-64

I'll have to take a look at the manual and see what it says about memory configurations. The board is a Gigabyte F2A85X-UP4. I've run three sticks before in other boards, but it's been a very long time. It might be that I cannot use only three sticks, that it has to be four. I don't really have a l...

Re: Share Your GPU Undervolt

Yeah, I *am* trying to minimise noise/power - that's the point of an undervolt thread; "How cool/quiet can you go without giving up performance?" I've tried a 64 BIOS but it doesn't affect the minimum voltage I can put through the HBM2, nor does it let me clock the HBM2 any higher than 96...

Re: Share Your GPU Undervolt

Resurrecting an old thread, because I've spent around three hours trying to get the very best out of my RX Vega 56 (Sapphire, reference model)... I think getting the "best" out of any Vega 56 Reference model is by putting the 64 BIOS on it... unless you are trying to run it a minimal powe...

Re: Lawsuit alleges Samsung, Micron, and Hynix colluded to drive up DRAM prices

I have no problem believing that they are artificially constraining supply (Because they've publicly said that they are!) in tacit cahoots, but the problem is that reacting to what your competitors say in their public filings/earnings calls isn't straightforward collusion. And that, I'm afraid, is ...

This should be interesting. We'll all get a few bucks and the lawyers will get millions. :P They may have a hard time proving it with server memory & GPU memory demand as high as it is... but yes, even if they do, the lawyers we get millions, user will get a few bucks and memory prices will get...

Re: Ryzen 2k Series + B350/x370 BIOS from e-tailers

Supposedly, all motherboards marked Ryzen 2000 Ready have Bios that will work "out of the Box" with all Ryzen 2000 series (7, 5, G) CPUs. That being said I had a bad experience with an ASRock X370 PRO4 AM4 motherboard which is listed as Ryzen 2000 Ready on newegg.com and the box itself. I ...

The 2700X looks great but I can't justify $329 for ~10% upgrade (vs my current 1700X). I couldn't find a clear summary of the advantages of X470 vs X370? Anyone know? The difference? X470 - X370 = X100 (therefore 100 times better!!!) Hopefully not 100X more expensive... ;( Except in this case, most...

Are you overclocking the memory? If I get mine too high, the "memory training" will try the setting about 3 times and then boot with the default memory setting at 2133, instead of the OCed memory settings.
