Re: File system stops responding in new build

I'm having a major problem with the new build I just put together. I'm hoping someone has seen a similar issue and can suggest how to correct it. Physically, the system seems to be fine, It posts and boots, and runs well... for ~ 5 minutes. Then, Windows Explorer goes into Never-Never Land. When th...

Re: So who here is actually mining?

I got into mining just so I could buy a new GPU or two to replace my R290s; and since I had an old mobo, cpu, memory and PSU sitting and gathering dust... my 2 R9 290s started my "mining" rig, which led me to buying several GTX 1070s, 1060s and RX Vega 56s, which have all pretty much paid ...

Re: So who here is actually mining?

What's casually mineable nowadays with CPU or low-end GPU? Not looking for big gains, just a way to convert electricity to cryptobucks. Cryptonight (XMR) can be mined with CPU or GPU and is profitable... Ryzen is pretty good at it as is most AMD cards especially VEGAs. Ethereum is probably the most...

Usually a company changes its name when bad newz hits it...so will they change their name to NiceTrash, NotsoNiceHash, or YouJustGotNiceHashed? For the poster that asked why is Bitcoin "worth" $13K? Well, speculators can't "short" it, but there is talk that a market will open for...

Re: Vega is [also] overpriced because AMD has manufacturing problems

I look at it pretty simply: between gamers, high-end compute, and cryptocurrency miners, AMD can't make enough; rather, if they could make more, they would . There's a production problem somewhere , else AMD would step up to the demand. I'd also hesitate to draw any conclusions between the yields a...

Is there any NEW information here? Yes there absolutely is: AMD said third-party board makers would have Vega parts in-hand by over a week ago and it never happened. Meaning that this is a real story about a real event, while you prefer to hide the severe issues at AMD that have likely cost Raj his...

Is it issues with the Chip Packaging process? Or Cost related? Probably a combination of several... As the Wendy's com...

The 1st thing I would try to narrow it down would be run msconfig.exe and disable all startup programs. With Four dies present and being based on pretty near the same socket as EPYC, the question then remains... could they enable 4-cores on each and have 2-dimms per core for 8 channels of memory? Perhaps in the future and enable more cores? Maybe an upgrade next year with Ryzen 2 or 7nm late in 2018? ...

The XBox One X can do 4K. It has been demonstrated. It's entirely up to developers to make content that can be played at reasonable frame rates. Some titles will need some tweaking and will not just scale up to 4K, IF they choose to patch it for the One X. I think the point was that things that are...

No idea really. It just seems like fans would be the first thing to go after a few million revolutions. Um, do the math on a 7200 RPM hard drive running 24/7/365. Any idea what the life span is for a good quality consumer GPU that is running at 74c and 15% fan speed (650-700 rpm) for 24/7? My temperature is much lower, and my fan is much faster.
