Reinstall Free Win10 Upgrade?

I jumped on the free Win10 upgrade when it was available, now I am at the point where I need to install a new (bigger) OS drive, is there way of doing a clean install of Win10 without having to buy a copy?

Re: Random hard reboot (normally triggered when running games or booting from sleep mode)

Uncheck reboot on error so you can see the blue screen of death and see what kind of error your getting.
I assume Windows 10 still has this option.

Edit - Its still there - Control Panel/System/Advanced System Settings/Start up and Recovery Settings - Uncheck Automatic Restart

The 850 Evo is a great choice for a game drive, so I'd go for that. Only you know if you want RGB LEDs in your keyboard, though.

I love backlight keyboards, I have had one for several years now and it really pays off when playing in the dark, so I can see the keys at a glance while playing.

Re: Looking to Upgrade

That's a pretty stout system already. Any particular games or general performance goals on the horizon? What about your monitor? Already got a solid mouse and keyboard? Yeah, keyboard is getting a little long in the tooth that's a good idea, I run dual monitors and they are solid, mouse is fairly n...

Re: Looking to Upgrade

I agree game drive is bit small, its not an issue very often, but for sure a larger game drive is something I am looking into. As for how much I am willing to spend, I put $2500 aside for some upgrades now and down the road, I was tossing around the idea of taking the VR plunge, any thoughts on that...

Is there a more seriously bad ass 10 or 15 seconds of Darth Vader kicking ass like no ones business in any movie other than this one?

I mean OMG!! That was freaking awesome!

Turns out is was simply a bad mouse, plugged in a known good working mouse and the issue went away.

You got to hate it when good mice turn bad...lol

Re: Dishonored 2

My wife picked it up for me for my birthday, yesterday.  I downloaded it last night but didn't get a chance to try it yet.  Any tips for a Dishonored newb? (I didn't play the first Dishonored but heard it was quite good) Play the tutorial and pay attention, remember there are several ways to get to...

Dishonored 2

Anyone playing this yet? I played the crap out of the first one, so I did something that I don't do very often, I pre-ordered it. So far its a lot like the first game, some refinements and twists on some of the powers, gorgeous graphics and I have not been plagued by any of the bugs I see people com...

Re: Odd Mouse Behavior

Don't know the exact age of the machine, but I would bet its about 5-7 years old, it was upgraded from Win7 to 10 during the free upgrade period and has ran just fine until this little item popped up.

If memory serves it has 8gigs of ram, a Geforce 6800 and I think an Intel I7-920.

Odd Mouse Behavior

So I got a phone call from a relative having a problem with their mouse and I am going to go over to their house this weekend to see what the deal is, but here is what he is describing what is happening. Sometimes the mouse will stop moving, windows will make a "chiming" noise and after ...

I recently saw a news story about infected USB drives being left around college campuses and something like 2/3rds of people who find them plug them in without much hesitation. I got to admit, if I found a USB drive, it would be very tempting to see what is on it, but I like to think that I have eno...

Re: Is it possible to do this......

Ok, the PC sound source is routed thru on-board audio and into the PC speakers, when I set the HDTV as the default sound, the sound runs thru the Display Port cable to the speakers built into the HDTV. Otherwise, the HDTV sound is routed to the PC speakers/ So, yes, I would like 2 different sound so...

Replacing my old GTX 680

I use to jump on every new generation of video card, but after a while I decided to stick with a card until it became obvious that it could no longer do what I wanted it to do. Well, finally after almost 4 years, my old GTX 680 (2GB GDDR5) Core Clock 1006 MHz is finally starting to meet its match in...

Re: Advise on replacing a Geforce 680

My thanks to everyone for their input, I think I might hang on to the 680 for a just a little longer and see if a 970 or 980 comes on sale for a really good price as the next generation approaches.

The next major game I am looking at is XCOM 2, so there is time to see how things unfold.

I am running 2 monitors at native 1920 x 1200.

A lot of the time I am gaming on one monitor while browsing on the other, I obviously don't play twitch games, but I do love 4X or RPG single player type games.

Advise on replacing a Geforce 680

I am beginning to see that my old 680 is starting to get a little long in the tooth....

2GB 256-Bit GDDR5
Core Clock 1006 MHz
Boost Clock 1058 MHz

So I am thinking a 900 series card of some type, any good suggestions as to which one?

MS Edge Question

I run a duel monitor setup and I typically have my browser open in the left hand screen while I am doing whatever I am doing on the right hand screen. So I like to have my favorites pinned on the left hand side of the browser so it’s out of the way. Naturally, after I upgraded to Win10 I wanted to c...

Re: Need a multifunction printer

I hate HP and it has nothing to do with their equipment, their entire printer business model is set up to gouge the crap out you when it comes to replacement ink.

Not that anyone else is much better. but HP is the worst...IMHO.
