Problem Solved

It was stupid of me not to think of this when I was having problems with my graphics card. Just to re-cap I was unable to play 3d games because the computer just hung. Otherwise my computer was perfectly stable. Will it turns out that I probably OC'ed it a bit to far. So I dropped the FSB back to th...

hi all, dolemitecomputers - when I run those games I don't even get to the title screen. The screen just goes blank and the machine crashes, resulting me having to reboot. I just remembered that when I installed the Geforce card I performed it on a fresh install of Windows XP. Since it was a custom ...

Hi Austin thanks for the reply, just an update really. I installed my old first Gen Radeon card and the games worked fine. I therefore conclude that it probably is compatibility issues. I might try that fresh install a go as I've got enough disk space for a small test partition. Let you know how it ...

Anyone running this mobo / graphics card combo

Well it seems not only am I having problems running Warcraft 3 but also Black and White (which ran fine on my old p3 1gig). I've updates drivers, bios and tried the NVMav util to fix the infinite loop prob. Initially I thought it was to do with my sound card but I now suspect its to do with the Gain...

I've had quite a few cases of windows freezing on me as well. I still get this problem with Warcraft 3 and I've updated drivers for everything Bios, sound card, graphics card. Just about to give this NVMax program a try. BTW I couldn't download it from those links but found another site. http://www....

Hi,

have a look at Vidomi http://www.vidomi.com - it may be more complicated to setup thatn Easydivx but it works very well with MP. Also supports network encoding if you have several machines.

hope that helps

Whats your video TV card setup?

Hi, I just pruchased a Leaktek 2000tv xp card and have starting tv capturing. The standard software is good and I can capture at a decent resolution which is a damn sight better than my old WinTV. My question is are there any good software packages out there that would work with my card and could so...

I think the cpu voltage will go up to about 1.80 - haven't really checked the top value but I know it can be set to 1.7 and above. I'm not to keen on raising the voltage too high in case the CPU burns out. I need to check the Memory bus speed - but as far as I can gather I could only change the volt...

OC advice for a power hungry guy

Hi, I've recently built a system and tried OC'ing it the first day I got it. Here are the system specs - P4 1.8A + standard HSF, MSI 845G Max, 512meg Crucial PC2700, Gainward Geforce4 4200 128 ram and a Lian Li pc60 case. Ok the result from OC were pretty poor, I only got up to 2.16 which proves ver...

Has anyone had any sound probs with Warcraft 3 and SB Live. The game loads then even before the main menu I get a crackling sound and thats it. I've got the latest DirectX files installed.

Any sensible solutions?

Actually the fans all came pre-installed - 2 at the front, one at the top of the case and one at the back. The exhausts are top and back so I think the airflow is fine.

I'll do a check on the ram. The ram is CL2.5 - u are right in saying that they only do 256meg sticks in this variety.

Yep its definetly a Northwood P4 I'm using. Looking at the temps I think the system is around 38c - I think in terms of ventilation I've got a Lian Li PC60 case with 4 fans. The thing I should probably check up on is the RAM latency settings, it should be ok for OC because eventually I opted for Cru...

;) There is no doubt about it, P4's Skt478 is a much better long term buy than any SktA. If you want to o/c the P4A 400FSB 512k CPUs are by far the best. P4A 1.8ghz 512k 400FSB usually easily o/c to 533FSB giving 2.4ghz and equalling the perf of a true P4B 2.4ghz 512k 533FSB, and that is WITHOUT an...

Is o/c ing the p4 just done by changing the BIOS settings, or do you needd to do other things to the chip? How about for the ti4200? hi dagenhammark, I've had a similar dilema with whether to go down the AMD or Intel route. In the end I choose he P4 route. In response to ur question about OC the P4...

finally started getting my components - decided upon a P4 setup. I did buy a P4 1.6A processor but thanks to the link Austin provided http://www.komplett.co.uk I gave it straight back and got P4 1.8A for only a fiver more (they have a special on this processor at the moment). As for the mobo I went ...

Hi, I've just decided to overhaul my old dell. Bascially I have about 350 pounds to spend on a new mobo/processor/memory.
