Re: AMD FX 6100? - Think I made a mistake

What is the purpose of your computer? You could always do better, but that doesn't mean you did bad. If you use general computer, some gaming, and some video encoding, you'll probably be pretty happy. You also got pretty good value, don't forget that. It won't ever be the fastest computer out there...

AMD FX 6100? - Think I made a mistake

Hey All, It's been a while since my last upgrade, and I think I made a mistake. I recently purchased the following setup/config (all currently en-route): AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3GHz Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6100WMGUSBX Sony Optiarc 24X DVD Burner, Bulk Package Black SATA Model AD-...

Re: How often to Reapply Thermal Paste

Thanks for the response. One quick question though. How much mileage are you getting out of the E6600? I hope I can OC to 3.0Ghz or over, but how long should expect the chip to last at that high of an OC?
I'm hoping to hold on to this CPU for another 1 -2 yrs.

How often to Reapply Thermal Paste

Hello All, I'm planning on migrating my system to a new case, and was wondering if while in the process of cleaning my components of dust, should I also reapply the thermal paste on my CPU? I have an Artic 7 Cooler on my e6600 and used the stock silver paste that was attached to it. I have not had a...

Antec 300 Gamers case

I was wondering about the Antec 300 gamers case. I'm planning on overclocking my current rig and was wondering if this case would be a good option to go with. My Antec Sonata II has very limited airflow so I've been looking around for a reasonably priced/sized case with good airflow for a while. Doe...

Re: xfx 8800GS

I have not done much research on the 9600GT, I like the 8800GS for the price/performance ratio. Plus with the $30 rebate it's a steal.
I may just wait a while unitl the 9600GT price falls and pick up one of those once I look at some good benchmarks and comparisons.

OC with OCZ Platinum DDR

I have the OCZ Plat Rev. 2, and I'm wondering if I will be able to keep my tight timings of 4-4-4-12 1T @ 800Mhz. My system specs should be in my sig. Would running in unlinked mode take care of this or is it best to run in linked and lower my RAM Freq. and loosing the timings and go from there. Thi...

Remove Front HD rails

I cut the Drive Rails out of the middle of the HD cage. These kept the Front mounted fan from sucking in a good amount of air. After cutting them out I could feel a very significant increase in air flow from the front of the case. If you have more than 2 HD's would not recommend doing this but with ...

My ambient temp ~22c

Thanks in advance

Added new fan to front case

I added another 120mm Antec Tri Cool fan to the front of the case. I can feel a bit more air pulling in, but it does not seem to affect the over temp of the case. It does however cool the HDs better. ~(1c-2c). I did however add a mod to my case that made a big difference in my MB temp. I used the fa...

Graphics Card / CPU Coolers

I just added a Zalman vf900-cu to my xfx 7900 GS XXX. My temps before (47c-52c) idle, and (62-65c) under load. After adding this cooler my idle temp dropped ~10c (37c-38c) and load (42-45c) this cooler is simply awesome. I added coolermaster HTK-002 thermal paste instead of the stuff that came from ...

Antec Sonata II AirFlow

I have an Antec Sonata II case and was wondering if anyone has had success increasing the airflow in this case. I have a 120mm Tri Cool rear exhaust fan (really kicks out air) and a front mounted 120mm Silent cool Fan(only goes to 1200 rpms ) :( . I did not install the air duct, but I did take the m...

MB temps Down

I finally got my MB temps down. I made a small mod to my case a while back using the cooling tunnel provided with the Antec Sonata II case. I broke the back off and put an 80mm fan in the mount. I had removed this when I reset my heat sink as I did not realize it made such a difference as it points ...

Motherboard temps.

My I checked the airflow in my case and it seems great. My cables are bundled at the top of the case. The issue with my CPU and core temps resolved by reseating the heatsink and fan, but now my MB temps are 7c-8c higher. My MB temps were at 32c-34c before reseating the heat sink. I've felt around my...

My temp are down, way down.

I took the advice of the post for reseating the heatsink. And my temps went from cpu (47c-50c idle to 38c-40c) core temps(62c,58c) ->(43c,42) It's a warm day and I don't have my AC running yet I had to take the MB out and force the black pins through the holes. I'm still looking forward to my artic ...

thermal paste on Graphics Cards??

Since I have the coolmaster thermal paste on the way, should I add some to the heatsink of my grapx card. It's an xfx 7900 GS, which is OC'd 400Mhz->
600mhz by the manufacture. It idle's at about 48c-51c. Would there be any real benifit or should I just leave it be?
