Re: Rise of Skywalker spoilers

Just curious, how old are you? Why does that matter? I am curious if there's a correlation between a person's age and their Star Wars preferences. I find that people who grew up with the OT are less inclined to like the newer movies. Nope, as the first movie I ever saw in the theaters as a child wa...

Re: Rise of Skywalker spoilers

Strange, I liked it a lot. Can you be specific please? What did you like? I liked the visual effects, the end battle and the lightsaber combat over the ocean and at the end. And tons of Star Destroyers in breathable atmosphere. That was new, if weird. I liked the action, the overall story (for what...

Re: Rise of Skywalker spoilers

Strange, I liked it a lot. Yeah I think the force powers got to be a bit too much but that is my only major complaint. Other than they had to rush character development because they did not bother with it much in TLJ. The major mistake they had with these three movies was not having a head writer an...

Re: TR BBQ XVI 8/10/19 - Official Thread

So you better move me to unconfirmed. I work in a school district and school starts on Monday. And thanks to some REALLY inept painters, I have a lot of damage to clean up. They cut down speaker cables, they ripped access points out of the wall, they tore down raceway. All after we told them we'd t...

Re: TR BBQ XV - Official Thread

July is a **** show for me. August is almost completely open except for the weekend of the 26th. Doubt we would have it that late anyway. I will keep that month open as much as possible. If you book July I make no promises.

Re: First time home buyer

I do not know if anyone has already said this but if you are going to pull cable(of any kind) always put in a service loop. Which is a coil of about a meter and a half of cable. This gives you lots of flexibility in case you ever need to relocate something. Second always run pull string through with...

We'll need another grill, though, as I doubt zgirl would want to share the space. Depends really, the grill is clear by 10:30 and I only fire up one side to make burgers and dogs around 2. Which, if he brings all that, we would just need to know the amount of cooking time. Otherwise I no, I am not ...

Re: Ageing drives, NAS, and Backup Strategy Rethink

How does JBOD generally fair when a drive goes down versus RAID-0? Depends on how you are setting up JBOD. Some systems or software allows for a drive to fail in a JBOD, RAID-0 will not. Again JBOD can be just a devastating as RAID-0 but me personally I would like some type of redundancy in the eve...

Re: Ageing drives, NAS, and Backup Strategy Rethink

If it were me, I would probably: [list] [*]Leave the same drives in the NAS, but switch them to RAID-0 (giving you 8TB) The suggestion with the NAS might not be popular, but you'd be adding redundancy with the external to offset this, as well as saving money over 2x 8TB. You are right, it is not a ...

I had a few people inquire about cornhole sets. I now have the ability to produce them again. (Though I may spend some time learning how to use a surger which may speed up bag production). Regardless I am going to price out the cost of sets again and give you a price. Last time I was charging $100 p...

I don't know if anyone else will be coming up US 23 around Ann Arbor tomorrow, but it was a total parking lot from Ann Arbor to I-96. Took an hour to do that stretch. An alternate is to jump off 23 at I-94 and take that to 127, take that north to I-96. Generally less traffic. That is how I am going...
