Grace Potter & The Nocturnals This is Somewhere Mastermind The Grace Potter that us Vermonters remember from before she was famous, i.e.the bluesy jam-band Janis wannabe, not what she's become as a solo artist. Not just Vermonters, but yeah, it's a shame what kind of music they've been putting ...

Another data point: I have never owned a motherboard that messed around with XMP settings unless I specifically told it to "OC my stuff" or touched the actual XMP settings. The only thing I have seen is the MCE stuff that boosts GHz and voltage on the CPU. Which, in my case, has never not ...

Joking, Well...to go a little OT My most stable non-server system is Asus ROG Strix Z270G + i5-7600K @ 4.8 + Nvidia graphics + Samsung NVMe SSD + Seasonic PSU + 32GB DDR4-3200 @ 2800 (yes, this TridentZ failed miserably at 3200 here and in X370+Ryzen5, but it was my mistake to buy 4x8GB). And yeah, my DAC/AMP + Audioengine's gets way, way, way too loud. I only usually have the DAC/AMP set to ~50 for regular listening. And that's on the low gain stage. Even with the AQ Dragonfly Black at 100% I can still keep the system very quiet. I was alluding to its ultimate volume capacity. Also...

Do I know for certain what it will be replace by? No, not necessarily. It'll be gone at some point though. The lack of a standard replacement is probably the only thing keeping it around. Digitally signed PDFs are becoming increasingly common where I work, but this requires people to overcome the e...

Apple says it's a normal phenomenon. Translation: You're finishing it wrong! What I've seen so far looks a little bit like the fisheye effect you can get when the finish is contaminated with silicone. Usually that happens when there's a furniture polish used that contains silicone on something whic...

Fax is still used a lot in law, healthcare, and especially real estate. It's probably never going away, however much affluent nerds with affluent nerd jobs in affluent nerd cities might argue that anything not living in a Google or Amazon server farm is blasphemy. Nope. Fax will go away sometime, a...

Honest to goodness, I never even touch Windows update on my machine. I have active hours set properly for it to update and restart when I'm asleep, and it doesn't even require a reboot every update. I'm sure some people have issues with their systems, but seriously, Windows 10 has quite literally ne...

From my own experience and from what I'm hearing about Win10 updates, Manjaro does the rolling releases much better with fewer issues, and those issues are fixable. However you do need to keep with the updates, otherwise you will need to reinstall if you wait too long. I will bet you all the money ...

I mean, you guys do what you want, but I'm not downloading three more apps to get rid of stuff from Windows that I can just turn off with Windows settings.

Also, why would you use regedit for the GPO on Windows update?

yes, that be the one. Cool, thanks. A few thoughts. 1. Something is totally wrong with either the 5GHz band on the Shield or with the compatibility of your router and the Shield. It should work totally fine. Maybe check for firmware updates (for both) and see if anything changes (i'm sure you thoug...

Disabling JavaScript may have been a viable option 15 years ago. Doing so today renders most of the web useless, or at best very inconvenient to use. Yes, these vulnerabilities are a big deal for service providers, because they can result in leakage of data between customers who are running on shar...

At the worst of it it was selling for for over $500. Not only will it be selling at that level again, but you can expect scarcity to resume if bitcoin continues to recover. It's going to make NVIDIA's GPU launch in March insane, I don't see how anyone will have stock on them to sell. Especially sin...

Unity was vaguely Mac-ish, so I am not surprised that our resident member of the Cult Of Apple thought it was decent. Yes, it was simple and (mostly) consistent. That's really the best thing I can say about it. Aside from that, it was too much of a compromise, and got in my way more than it helped....

That device is basically a Beats Pill with a better DSP and Siri integration, along with (presumably) the usual Apple build quality and (definitely) a healthy dose of the Apple Tax. Simple to set up, simple to use, with plenty of input options including RCA, AUX, USB, and Bluetooth....
